ABOUT ME

I have been practicing law for over 27 years.  The first 17 were in large Toronto law firms, most recently as a partner in the intellectual property group of one of Canada's largest firms. 

 

A little over 10 years ago, a close friend and colleague and I decided to leave the big law world and set up our own firm where we could use our experience to engage with needs of people more than wants of large corporations.   

 

Over the past decade, Koch Thornton LLP represented small and medium sized businesses, First Nations, not-for-profits, and individuals. We devoted hundreds of hours to free legal services in areas such as prison reform, safe drinking water, and systemic issues in the justice system. We also acted for artists, designers, poets, theatre producers, filmmakers, authors, and photographers in helping them develop their projects and protect their rights in their creations.

 

Allison Thornton has now left the private practice of law to pursue a career in the public sector.  I am continuing where Koch Thornton left off.
